In many Asian cultures, white fair skin is a symbol of beauty. Therefore some Asian women are afraid of getting tanned by the UV rays, it makes their skin darken. Thus the visors and umbrellas.
This has been going on way before European colonialism of Asia so I don't think this is a wanabee White thing like Michael Jackson.

RE:
Why do some Asians wear polarized face visors while in the sun?
Within the last few years I have noticed that some Asians wear full blown face visors while in the sun. Sure...I understand that they probably offer great UV protection, but where do you draw the line from fashion, and just looking ridiculous?

They are just covering their faces from the sun. I think they are smart. I have seen Asian women in my area with an umbrella up on a sunny day to prevent too much exposure to the sun. Thank about it. Have you ever seen a really wrinkled Asian person? Probably not because they protect their skin from sun damage.

White skin. more sun the darker you get.
So if you like pasty white.
And if you have a good chance of getting skin cancer I would cover.

Did you know that almost all old people will get cataracts if they don't wear sunglasses outside, even on cloudy days?
