im 16 and when i graduate im thinking of getting my gen ed done at a city college in either san diego or la then transferring to their state to get the degree and then uc san diego or uc la to get whatever you get there. i want to major in social work and minor in physc. i know this is vague since i dont know what specific job i really want after i get all my schooling done but could any one at all give me like an estimate? im going to live in either la or san diego for sure. can someone give me the job oppurtunities ill have after i get all my schooling donce and an estimate salary (Starting and then so one?)

Depends where they live and where they work. (ie govt v community job). Stats currently show the average is between $31,000-$34,000.
Check the Dept. of Labor website for more information.
You would make slightly more working for the Federal Government.

I live in central Maine where the standard of living is low and the economy is depressed, so my salary probably is not typical. I make about $30,000, but I think you can assume that social work is not highly paid wherever you live. I do make a little extra each week in mileage reimbursement.

If you find once you are in college that this is the field you truly want, you may wish to go on for a Master's and get certified as a LCPC or LCSW. Wish I'd done that when I was younger!

major in psychology minor in social work the average social worker really makes less money and the higher the paper the easier you will get an entry level job good luck. Talk to your guidance counselor they know what pay range and hrs... needed to live in your area good luck. It's good to see one your age thinking of the future.

My mother made in the upper 20's until she got her master's in Public Administration. She now makes 60.

She began her career after receiving her bachelors in social work from the University of Missouri. She worked at a facility for the handicapped. Next, she was a child abuse investigator, then she became a child care licensing director, then she evaluated inmates upon entering prison and recommended rehabilitation programs .... after 911 and her Master's completed she now works in Bio-terrorism for the feds.

Please tell me you have much and much and many adventure with batterers... do not take a social artwork interest in case you do not have the talents to handle a narcissist. they're getting sturdy at present.
