I have been working on a demo album and all of sudden it hit me. What if I ain't all that vocal-wise? This could just be a waste of time. Hi ya
You clearly have a talent both vocaly and as a writer. So stay well away from **** like the x factor! Those guys are only looking for something they can mold into what they want, skim as much cash out of it as they can, then once they've had their fill drop you like a sack of **** from a very great hight! There is only one way to get to the top in the music bussiness and that is by believing in yourself and working your **** off. These quick fix fame junkies have know idea what the bussiness is about and as a result have no way of knowing how to handle the ups and downs that is show biz! Most of them will be gone without a trace within a few year were as artists who have worked at what they do will survive (mostly lol)
Play live don't just use a demo tape as a selling tool. You'll learn more from being bood off stage in one evening than you will from everyone saying how fantastic you are!
Listening to you stuff, ya good, but ya gotta cut it live to be big! Brace yourself for more downs than highs, keep on fighting and doing it your way and you will get there and remember you don't have to be a major artist to make good money at what you do.
Prince has survived and sold more albums without a major record deal then he did with one! (of course having one to start with did help! lol)

ps Not only was I a young musician myself once but I also worked as a music promoter/manager for over a decade, so I know just how to sqeeze money out of an artist. It's all in the small print and very often the artist ends up with nothing but a large bill and a sore nose! I have since seen the error of my ways and now work with young bands etc helping them on their way. It is a very complicated bussiness and has more ducks n dives than could ever be put down on here!

I think that it you have a decent voice...not bad but not amazingly good. You have some talent, but I suggest taking some voice lessons and re-recording the songs afterwards. I think that with a little extra help you can go pretty far in the music world. (sorry if I seemed a little harsh...but I think that this would be the right way to go for you.)
