Real time... if you have some sort of program to record real time like if you were a band and you wanted to record them then you would just press play on your mp3/cdrom and record on the program.. a great program is Cool Edit... it may take a little to figure out but once you do your options are unlimited.

You can do this with itunes or windows media player (under the Rip tab at the top), as well as a number of other free programs. it's called "ripping" the track from the CD, making it into an mp3
