I want to buy ink catridges from someone other than Dell and have been told the Dell 944 may be manufactured by Lexmark. If this is true, which Lexmark model is the corresponding model....Many thanks.

Mark, I don't know if this will help you or not but I've been buying ink from a company called abacus24-7. They've been pretty good in finding Dell cartridges and their prices are about 50% less than most sellers. Hee's a link to them including an email link. Hope this helps.

If your only using the printer for b/w text then buy ink and refill the cartridge yourself. You can buy refill kits which you drill a hole and fill it but i just turn the cartridge upside down and, using a syringe fill it into the sponge where the ink comes out. works perfectly and saved a fortune.
