Iam Currently Treating My Tank For Ick And It Says That You Need To Remove Any Charcol Out If You Can, Well I Have A Bio Wheel Type Filter And I Wanted To Know If I Needed To Take Out The Bio Wheel And If My Filter With The Activated Charcol In It Will Be Okay. The Ick Is Going Away By The Way If That Helps And My Tank Is 83ish Degrees.

I'd take the charcoal out. If you can't do that, turn the bio wheel off.

You'll probably want to change the carbon filter if you left it in during treatment.

The charcoal will remove any medication you put in the tank. That is why they tell you to take it out (not "IF YOU CAN"). The bio-wheel is OK to keep running... but no charcoal (carbon). The temp is probably what is helping with the ich.

If you raise the temp another couple of degrees to 85 for 3-5 days, the ich will be killed. Temperature is effective against ich even without medication. Ich is a small parasite and is killed by high temps which do not hurt your fish for the 3-5 days the temp is raised. The temp also kills the eggs that the parasite lays in the tank.

When I had to treat my tank for ick, what I did was just basically left the filter off. My fish survived, and the ick hasn't come back. I treated it about 7 months ago, and I haven't had a problem since then. So, it is safe if you just turn the filter off for a couple weeks while you treat your tank.

Best of luck!

do not USE drugs!!!! the meds will kill the helpful micro organism on your clear out. All you're able to desire to do is purchase a heater and turn the heater as much as eighty 4-86. purchase a thermometer. once you placed the heater on your tank set it a million degree bigger than what your tank is at now and each hour strengthen it a million degree till you attain eighty 4-86 Do 30-50% water transformations prevalent or each and every 2 days to get rid of the ich spores that have fallen from the fish. do this for 2-3 weeks. in case you dont see the ich anymore save the temp extreme for yet another 3 days after which you're accomplished.

here's a more simple way of curing ick. there is a product from Jungle called Ick Clear. you can get this as a box of 8 tablets. just simply drop a tablet in and it will fizz like alka-seltzer. i would recommend releasing it near the filter so that the chemicals can be filtered back into the aquarium. Jungle also has many more tablet-based products that can help your aquarium and fish.

Ammonia Clear - removes harmful chlorine and chloramine from tap water, reduces ammonia stress in fish, protects fish from ammonia poisoning.

Correct pH - recommended for aquarium fish requiring at least a 7.0pH balance.

Fungus Clear - protects against secondary infections, clears fungus and bacteria related conditions, clears furunculosis (open red sores), eye cloud (white hazy film on eyes), popeye (enlarged eyes) and swim bladder disease (fish swims on side or upside down).

No More Algae - removes sexisting algae, inhibits growth of free floating algae and algae that grows on sides of aquarium, prevents formation on new algae.

Water Clear - clears cloudy water, removes odors, neutralizes iron in well water.

You have to take the charcoal out because that absorbs the treatment and the ick. it will come back.
