I am not specifically speaking of the movie because there is a vast difference between the facts and the movie. If have experienced a sighting or have researched the history, I would like to hear your opinion of what Mothman is and/or isn't.

My husband is obsessed with the Mothman. We're both into cryptozoology and that's his favorite mystery creature. We both believe he is out there, somewhere and somehow. The research we've done on him has claimed that people have seen him for centuries and centuries, which makes you wonder if he isn't some sort of prophet of doom, as the movie suggests. We at one point, found a list on the internet of alleged sightings, which, unfortunately, I don't have a link for ya' at this point. However, we noticed that he was allegedly spotted right before Chernobyl happened. Kinda' interesting.

Mothman is some scary stuff!

I think that the several sightings of the wierd grey skinned guy and the strange lights may be connected. Could be that an alien craft landed in that abandoned factory building or something.

...

No on second thought if I were an alien I wouldn't cross the cosmos just to get cought naked walking along a roadway in West Virginia.

Still there was definately something creepy going on there.

Well, I did watch the movie and then I read about him/it in America's Most Haunted Places. It could just be a legend that people want to be a part of, so they say they've seen it, but it's appeared in more than just that one town where the bridge collapsed. Ghosts I can deal with, but the description of the Mothman is downright eery. I normally wouldn't believe in demons on earth, but I wonder if something like this is proof.

Others say it was an owl or other winged animal. I just don't see how that's possible to mistake something man-sized with a large bird of prey. And what about the eyes? They were red. I've seen owls and their eyes don't reflect red. Very spooky stuff to consider.

I actually think I might have seen it. I was spending the summer with my grandparents in West Virginia, sometime around 1995. I was sleeping in the recliner in the living room, when all of a sudden, I saw these two big red eyes staring at me. It just stayed there for a few hours and eventually went away. There was nothing around their home to make something that looked like 2 big red eyes. Anyway, years later I heard about the mothman thing on Unsolved Mysteries and since they said it was in West Virginia and had red eyes, I sorta wonder if that was it.

"Chhhhhaappppsttttiiccckkk..."

I absolutely loved that movie. It scared the heck out of me and to
think that it was based on a true story. -- The hair on the back of my neck is standing straight.

It almost seemed like a demon from hell, the devil himself or one of his messengers. If God can have Angels- I believe that the devil can have Mothmen~ I'd love to hear more stories. If I ever
ran across THAT (actually, I think he picks his victims) I'd
surely die of a heart attack. Cudos to the actual writer that Richard Gere is portraying in the movie. I wouldn't have had the guts.

Now... I believe in ghosts, angels and the like. They spook me-
but I'm so fascinated and curious and it doesn't scare me. In
fact, I just bought a haunted vase off of e-bay. (Nothing yet but it's just been 3 days.) Mothman terrifies me- I wouldn't entertain
the thought of attracting him to my home in 1,000,000 years.

Brrrrrrrrr....
