I like the phrase ‘make them forgive you.’ The truth is you can’t. Forgiveness is a choice the other person has to make. I’m sure that you know this, but I made that point for the sake of clarity. As far as how to improve the chances that the person will choose to forgive you, I advise honesty, contrition and a meaningful change in your attitude and behaviors.
Be honest about what you did and why. Don’t try to justify it. Just say that’s what I thought at the time and now I know this and would have said that. Don’t take abuse, but allow the other person to vent their feelings and respect their point of view. Finally, look inside yourself and find ways to adjust how you approach situations in order to make it less likely that you will repeat this kind of thing.

You can't "make" them forgive you, but you could ask them to. Or beg them to. On hands and knees. With a tear running down your cheek. Sometimes, it works. :) good luck to you, and stop the lying.

Whether they choose to forgive you or not is up to them. If you're truly looking for forgiveness, you might try being truly honest. It's up to them from there...
