Worked in prosthetics for a little while......well wierd.
Amputees get phantom pains- toes feel itchy ect when there's nothing there! Reckoned to take at least 7 years off your lifespan due to shock and stress.
The good news is that the quality of artificial limbs is amazing!
lots of technology involved and people can live full and active lives
after accidents.
Main cause of amputees is smoking PVD- peripheral vascular disease mostly people in their 50's and older. So quit now!

I'd get a peg leg as these are easiest to walk on, a prosthetic foot is far more diffucult to use and most people choose one to look more normal but as I don't care about looking normal a peg leg would be best for me.
Although pogo-leg also appeals...

I would get a rocket powered skateboard leg! No more walking for me hehehe. Or a wheel chair then you always have a place to sit!

I would go back along the route and try to find my leg first.
If no luck, I would plump for sone of those springy things and run around like Inspector Gadget.
