because they are probable 100% cotton, next time don't put them in the dryer just hang them up and let the dry on their own.

First of all , before you wash them, always read the label and follow the directions. Never wash dry clean only clothing. Never dry clothes if they are 100% cotton unless you want them to shrink, and when you do dry them, try on tumble low or medium, never on high.

When you wear clothes it stretches the fibers out. When you wash and put them in the dryer they return to what they were before you put them on. It's just the elasticity of material.
If they're too small, you should try using the lowest setting on the dryer and cool to warm water for the wash. This will also keep your clothes around longer as the washing and drying can stress material out.

You are either washing your clothes at the wrong temp or drying them for too long.

Are you washing them in hot water? Are they made of cotton only? I've never had that problem before....

because heat causes cotton to pull together.
If you want to make your clothing get larger then you should consider ironing them dry.
