You keep asking this, and I keep telling you:
The class of atheists is not constrained to those who Believe that God does not exist.
Atheists DO NOT BELIEVE A God exists. There is a difference.
I don't have to show COCKSNOT as to why I don't believe God exists. The latter however takes justification. Agnostics claim they can not know God (gnosis = knowledge), but that doesn't stop them from believing in God, which I find absurd.
from wikipedia:
"Atheism, in its broadest sense, is a lack of belief in a deity or deities: the opposite of theism. This encompasses both people who assert that there are no gods and those who make no claim about whether gods exist or not."
And I disagree with, whoever is currently making the point, calling something BEYOND HUMAN understanding and logic REAL. That is not real, that is a thing-in-itself, a mere idea, and a totally vacuous one at that.
-----------------------------------
Disbelief in God isn't analogous to the flat earth hypothesis. God is a logical contradiction beyond time and space. Spending time making "room" for God violates Occam's Razor.

Atheism denies a higher power because it would interfer with their Hedonistic view of life which is "Eat,Drink, and be Merry for tomorrow we die"Although they believe in science and evolution there is not one transitional fossil in the record.Ther are fish and monkeys no "Funkies".Around once every 2 yrs they come out with the "we found a dinosaur in China that looks like it had feathers" Then it's disproven. In a couple more years the story resurfaces again same bullcrap.Alot of people say "I'll wait till I'm old then I'll accept God before I die" by that time your so callous you don't you just get Bitter and angry.Get with it Folks

Actually the definition of Atheism is just the disbelief in God(s). How many of us actually believe in "God". Atheism is probably the most prevalent iconified belief (thing) today. Unlike in ages past today people don't actually "believe". However, to answer your question to firmly deny something beyond comprehension is stupidity and believing in such is the same.

Yes. Atheism does firmly deny the existence of a higher power. And in their eyes....they do comprehend the situation with specific (and sometimes hard to remember) reasoning.

Atheist accept all sorts of higher powers - - - the speed of light, the changes in nature around us - - - they argue against a GOD as a rational being directing the lives of humans & animals - - - many atheists will defer to 'the powers that be' accepting that fate & luck are a greater mystery than all of us. Conversely not one of us knows anymore that what we know from within the body housing our soul. All existence could but be your imagination. Cease to believe in your own existence and see how long you last. Peace.

Atheists deny the existence of God, especially a God who has a personal relationship with human beings. There are certainly powerful forces in the universe, but these are material forces like Gravity and Magnestism, which are governed by the laws of Physics, not a personified deity.

Atheism denies a greater physically powerful ability with the aid of fact it may interfer with their Hedonistic view of existence that's "consume,Drink, and be Merry for the next day we die"notwithstanding they think in technology and evolution there's no longer one transitional fossil in the record.Ther are fish and monkeys no "Funkies".around as quickly as each and every 2 yrs they arrive out with the "we stumbled on a dinosaur in China that feels like it had feathers" Then that's disproven. In a pair greater years the tale resurfaces lower back comparable bullcrap.Alot of folk say "i'm going to attend till i'm previous then i'm going to settle for God in the previous I die" by using that factor your so callous you do no longer you purely get bitter and indignant.Get with it human beings

Why should there be a higher power? Simply because it is beyond your comprehension? That doesn't sound like a very strong argument to me.

Great question. Humans conduct many experiments on lower life forms which have no way of comprehending even our presence. Yet, some atheists don't seem to be able to perceive this (ironic?). We could be in the midst of Intelligence(s) and Mind(s) as far above our own cognition, as we are above the common kitchen cockroach. Would we be aware of their presence? Their machinations? I think not. Even among our own kind, there are persons whose I.Q. is so high, most of us can barely comprehend how they think, much less "what" they think.

I'm not sure I can answer your question in all its implications but I believe it might be helpful to be aware there are atheists and there are agnostics. I'm not talking about any book definitions but my own understanding. I understand atheist to be that person who not only doesn't believe in God but would deny the existence of God. They believe in the non-existence of God and give arguments to justify their belief in God's non-existence. Agnostics, on the other hand, I'd describe as people who are indifferent to the existence of God or even the issue of whether or not God exists. So, by default, agnostics do not believe in God but they wouldn't necessarily disbelieve if upon examining the matter in detail they became convinced God exists. Agnostics are non-commital regarding the existence of God. By the way, agnostic is NOT the opposite of Gnostic. Gnostic is someone who believes in one of several versions of Gnosticism, of which both Christian and non-Christian types exist. It's a way of intense, highly personal spiritual practice that puts someone in direct contact with the Divine. They can exist in groups but their spiritual experience of God is attained primarily at an individual level. I'm fairly sure they have group practices as well but even those lead to a highly personal experience of God.
