Sick Ferret?

Question

I have a very sick ferret named Snowball. She has been sick for a long time. She is ate up with cancer and I feel so sorry for her. My son is gone tonite and I want to put Snowball out of her misery. There is no chance of her getting any better or I would not be asking this. I want to send her on over the rainbow. How can I do that with the medicine I have here at home. I have access to the following meds:

Naprosen 1000mg
Sleeping pills
Nyquil
Oxycodine

Any suggestions or direction. I can crush the pills and dilute them in water and syrynge them to her.

wait until your son gets back then go to the vet and get her put down HUMANELY . And make her last few minutes memorable just hug her one last time and most of all dont cry because shes going to a better pain free world.

I know u are feeling sorry for the ferret, but TAKE HER TO THE VET AND LET THE VET PUT HER TO SLEEP THE HUMANE WAY...............


to the pet store owner above me, this is insane, it is a living breathing creature that feels pain just like u and me, u should not be a pet store owner as u do not have no heart. U should be locked in the freezer and see how it feels. OMG how can anyone even suggest such a thing ?

no no no you need to take the baby to the vet you took snoball in and your are Strong enough to know she is suffering it dose not cost a lot to have a ferret put down it is not hard thing to see i thought it was and actually i was glad i was their when i had to put one of my dogs and ferret under i held their little paws and gave them a kiss and was glad i did i was strong i was surprised at how strong i was i have a heart for animals and it was not easy but i seen and i knew how much they needed that i know i did the right thing so PLEASE STEP UP AND TAKE HE TO THE VET, if you think this is going to be hard on your son take her then when you get home if you can bury her in a special place in the yard or if not talk about it let him know this had to be done but please pills are not a guarantee you may make her sick or worse suffer more.

After you and your son can go to rainbowbridge and light a candle.

Putting a ferret, or any animal for that matter, is called ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. How about you tell me the next time you are in pain so that I can shove you into a pillowcase and stick you in the freezer until you die? How would you feel? Take her to the vetand have him HUMANELY put her down. I had to put my rat to sleep and that is what I did. Tell your son in advance or it can cause him to feel resentment toward you. I love my aunt to pieces but she had my horse put to sleep and then told me about it afterward. I was so upset. When we put my mare to sleep a few weeks ago, I made sure that I was there and that nothing was going to stop me from being there. Save your pain pills for yourself because you never know when you are going to be in severe enough pain to have to take them.

If you dont have the money to take her to the vet, dont let it suffer I had two Ferrets at one time one black footed imported and they both suffererd from seizers after they reached about five years old. Anyways dont let the poor thing suffer, do as the first person said and put him in a pillowcase in the freezer and let him fall asleep and die. Last time I had the vet do it it cost me about 75 dollars including cremation. Dont let the poor little guy suffer and dont waste your Oxycodone on the sick ferret save it for yourself!

Anything other than taking her to a veterinarian to be humanely euthanized would be considered an act of animal cruelty and abuse. Money should never be an issue when it comes to the welfare of a pet. If it's an issue, don't have pets.

the thought of putting a terminally ill ferret in the freezer to die, makes me want to cry.
I could never do that to mine.
don't you know how frightened she/he would be tied in a pillow case, unable to escape...and being alone??? he/she deserves better than that.

Your best bet is to put her in the freezer. She will get really cold and fall asleep and die. No pain. Put her in a pillow case & tie it up so she can't get out. Put her in the freezer and leave her there over night. Go ahead and bury her the next day. Please tell your son that you are putting the ferret down. He needs to know. If you can't do it your self take her to the vet. They can do it too.
