yes is it very normal. hamsters are nocturnal (means they are awake at night) but you can get them up during the day to interact with them if you want. just don't grab without some warning. they need the attention if you want to keep them accustomed to you. my flamster loves for me to hold him and give him treats before I go to bed each night. I hear him running and look into his cage/tank (flamster resides in a 3 level towncage with an attached 10 gallon glass tank - fancy spancy)each morning to see what he has changed after his exercise is done. he moved this pile of goodies to this corner and takes his bedding and makes a big pile in that corner. too cute. if your hamster is disturbing you because of it's activity, try to find another room for it's cage at night. just no place where other rodents can enter (if it is a cage). i would keep mine in the bathroom in the tub with the door closed but made sure i told everyone in the house about it. in the morning before anyone needed to use the bathroom - back in my room went the hamster. that was my answer to the squeeky wheel. the current set-up i have has a wheel that I have to grease or my husband can't sleep for the noise. he thought the sound was coming from our ceiling fan that was about to break. he laughed when i told him the noise was flamster. one good shot of olive oil on the axel and no more noise. i have a rescued teddy bear with big speckeled ears and those adorable black pearl-like eyes. what kind do you have?

Yes. Hamsters are nocturnal animals, meaning they are active at night. Try a bit of olive oil on the wheel to reduce the noise.

Yes this is very normal for a hamster. It is a rodent and most all rodents are nocturnal animals, which means that they are awake at night and sleep during the day. It is their natural way of life. I suggest for your sister's sake- getting a quieter wheel, for hamsters can be very noisy.

Yes, most rodents are nocturnal. If the wheel squeaks a lot, oil it with something that will not hurt the hamster. vaseline or lipgloss from a jar always worked for me, otherwise, my sister would hit me with a pillow because the noise would keep her up at night. Hope that helped!

That is the normal sleep pattern for a hamster, yes! They are usually active at night and then do their sleeping during the day.

It is absolutely normal. Hamsters, like most other smaller mammals, are nocturnal by nature. Their smaller frames mean higher metabolisms which generate more heat than most larger animals. Roaming at night when it is much cooler keeps them from overheating. It also helps them to better hide from potential predators.

My sister had a hampster that only ran on that squeaky wheel at night.....grrrr.. So when it took naps during the day, I was inclined to wake it's little butt. It seems to be pretty normal. I don't know why they love to be so active at night, but they are.
