Why do people think that people from the Middle East are Black?

Why do Americans say that Arabs are non-white?
I am from Syria and I have blonde hair and blue eyes.

Because most people do not know that arabs are not a race but a culture.

Arab nations based on race,

Lebanon and syria=white

Sudan and Somalia=black

Egypt=hamitic

libya, tunisia, algeria, morocco, muratania= berber

Yemen, saudi arabia, uae, qatar, bahrain, kuwait= beduin(real arabs)

jordan, iraq and palestine=some are white and some are beduin.

The ugliness is basically set up this way, US, Canada, Western Europe, Scandinavia, non native Australians, and previously White South Africa! Polish peoples caught hell, and as you know, Hebrews all ways seem to get beat upon, even in America. Its just that their money and political clout holds sway over American political decision these days!

If you are from the continent of Africa, you are consider non Anglo Saxon white, .i.e. Black. The reprieve here is Christianity,the middle east, Jesus and you have most of the oil. Note that in all Western churches and religious materials, Christ has Blond hair and blue eyes!

Our historical relationship with china, though we helped during world war II, whites do not marry Chinese, whites play the parts of Chinese, even though there were qualified Chinese actors.

I wonder if you could imagine the response of upper white America to their son bring home an Asia or other Non Anglo Saxon wife.

Look at who Hollywood chose to play Kung FU over Bruce Lee!
etc, etc, etc.

Look at the world prosperity!

I used to think of Arabic country's as dark skin, dark hair but with everything going on over there over the last few years. I have notice people on T.V. being blonde headed blue eyed and such. At first I did think dang there are allot of Americans over there trying to dodge bullets. But different country's close to each other there can have very different looking people.

what different would it make even if you were classified as White? One deadly mistake we all make that is divide ourself into different colours, by doing this we open ourselve to vitimisation and abuse.

I can go on forever on this but to cut the long story into short I classify myself as an human being and I am very happy and satisfied with that.

read your question the answer is there for you... why do Americans... because most Americans are stupid when it comes to things from outside their own country. I lived in America and was amazed that a country with so many universities can be filled with people who are so thick

that's true. i have heard of others (middle eastern people) being mistaken for Black.

many, though, i think don't label as black, but do label as something else....because they want to have the distinctions and be able to target other groups.

it appears that race is becoming more and more of a social construct. originally, it was based on biological differences (and more like skeletal structure than skin color) in the traditional meaning of race, Middle Eastern is Caucasian.....but with the current social definition of race, apparently it is its own group.

it's funny, tho. race categories change so frequently and depends on who you're talking to.

i don't think they're black. and non-white doesn't always mean they're black. they could be hispanic, asian, pacific islander etc.

there are also mexican people who have blonde hair and blue eyes, but they're still mexican.

No...all these countries have immigrants like anywhere else...America seems to think it's the only melting pot, but it's not.

we dont' think they are black, but neither do we think they're white...they're middle eastern/arabic/etc.

there are more than two races on earth.
