When you hear others mispronounce words or get things backwards? For instance, my pet peeve is when people get "itch and scratch" confused. They say they are "itching their back" but actually the ITCH is what is causing them to SCRATCH!! See what I mean. I also crack up when people say VALENTIMES instead of VALENTINES. So, what makes you laugh that others do or say?

I didn't mean laugh in their face. I meant laugh to yourself. And for those of you that are bored with my question.. go to another one, there are thousands.

I giggle when people say "tump." Also, here in Kentucky, people say "rassling" for the word wrestling.

Not really, but I have a 4 year old who actually calls a back scratch a back itch! He loves my back "itches." Magazines are mazagines, the computer is a "puter." He is adorable!! Now of course if he was 15 or 25, then I would probably giggle=)
Actually, I just thought of one that does make me giggle...my teacher/advisor could NOT say chiropracter...it was cwyopracter...and she would say it somedays 10 times...then I was giggling terribly on the inside..trying desperately not to let it out.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who say itch in place of the word scratch. I hate it when some people say, "That book is MINES." It is weird how they put a S at the end of mine.

When my wife was pregnant, she used to live on taco bell chalupas, however she couldnt say chalupa she always called it a chawapa, I used to get a kick out of that. But my biggest peeve is when somebody axes a question, instead of asks a question

I don't laugh when people make mistakes like that, unless they slipped up and they are laughing too . I just don't want to hurt someone else's feelings, they don't know any better, it's just the way they were taught.

Some people don't know how words are build/constructed.
So from "orientation", people create "orientate" as a verb rather than "orient". And don't try to correct them, oh no!
