My "friend" just wrote this to me.
We're rebeling against you because me and Denise think that you're slapping me because of your mom. WE THINK! Plus... you think you have a look. YOU DON'T! I'm sorry I had to tell you that. But... it's true. You cut us off when you say good-bye on the telephone and we really need to tell you things. We can't even get a word in when we're talking to you also. And the worst thing is... YOU'RE WAY TOO BOY CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's all you ever think about.
I like the old you. When I met her in 4th grade. Not in 5th grade where she slaps and smears germ X in my face. I'm sorry.

Girls in garde school can be especialy harsh, particularly when it comes to social standing amongst 'friends'. It sounds like your friend is very very insecure about who she is and wants to fit in with everyone else. And who could blame her; most everyone wants to fit in. The thing is, in middle / elementary school, everyone is just trying to figure out who they are, and that takes time and experimentation. Everything starts changing, including your interests, body, style, and personality. The main thing to remember is that the only person who can tell you who you are or who to be is YOU!

About the letter: I don't know what the slapping is about, but I'm thinking it's not a good idea to go around slapping people, even if you think they deserve it. If someone in your life is abusive you need to tell someone older whom you can trust. It is NOT ok, and help is out there.

Don't worry about your 'look'. like is said, everyone is different and trying new things is an important part of figuring out who you are.

Try listening to your friends when they talk and not interupting them, even if you really want to add something. Wait until they are done and then share your opinion.

There's nothing wrong with being 'boy crazy'. Some people never get over it ;-) and your friends will definately have their moments too!

I think you should confront these girls and let them know how much their letter hurt you. If they really want to be your friend they will accept that you are not perfect and will work on not doing things that bother them (ie. slapping). If they continue to freeze you out, then you don't need people like that in your life.

Good luck honey. Just remember that you are never alone and these horribly stressfull times DO actually have an end in sight.
