i did for many years. i used to dance with taupou samoa in san diego and then i started my own halau.. 'ailana nohea. i'm in the bay area now and have kinda put dancing aside. one day i'd like to teach again...
just wanted to answer your question, but i don't know who might be performing.. possibly lokilani's of costa mesa or nonosina of anaheim (local groups of OC).

I don't anything about the competition, but I love hula!!! I am just branching out into it as a dance form. My training has been based mostly on the "traditional" dancing, my undergrad came from Arizona State University, that is a modern-based school......but I am considering the Universtiy of Hawaii for my Masters of Arts in dance with the hula aspect being prominent. :)
