.....THE EDUCATION OF THE WORLD CONTINUES, ONE MORON AT A TIME.....American football was established before association football. In those days, there was a greater emphasis on kicking the ball in order to advance it toward the end zones. It has evolved into a pass first, run second, kick third strategy. An Englishman by the last name of Brown decided that association football needed to be different and coined the term "soccer" that continues to be marketed by the powers that be in Europe. Basically, we were first and you came up with the name.....THE EDUCATION OF THE WORLD CONTINUES, ONE MORON AT A TIME.....

Yahoo is an American website, wow. Amazingly, they use the word, "soccer".

By the way, USA got the word soccer from the South Africans and Australians.

It's also called soccer in Canada, too.

This is the American Yahoo Answers so they call it soccer (which seems to bug the whole world, and I completely understand why). There is a yahoo answers for the UK, where I'm sure they refer to the game as football.

You have to put "Soccer" after it so the Australians can understand, because they think football means that variation of Irish football which they call "aussie rules" (or aerial ping-pong as others call it!) Soccer is the real football!!

Well...
Don't know about you, but in my Yahoo! it IS called Football.
Sure, they put (Soccer) next to it inside a parenthesis, so the americans can identify it.
As long as they keep the S word inside the parenthesis and after "FOOTBALL" I'm great.

Goodluck!
