Vertebrates have backbones (Dogs, whales, monkeys, you, me). Ants have exoskeletons (hard shells, also common in scorpions, spiders, etc.) instead of bones, so no.

let me ask you... do they have a spine? if so, they're vertebrates. If, on the other hand, they had a hard shell with no bones, they would have an exoskeleton

Ants are invertebrates, meaning, they have no spine or bones. For a body support system, they have a carapace.
