I had the same problem. I contacted a lawyer who advertised as an expert in real estate law. He was very helpful. Go for it and good luck.

First, the term Nazi is offensive and inappropriate.

Second, the proplem with homeowners associations (in general), is that the people who have the time to be on the board (and make and enforce the rules) get too power hungry ... their "position" goes to their heads.

You can try to vote some off the board, but its hard to get someone to run against them. Even then, many vote for the incumbant.

So ... go get am attorney who advertises in the area, and find out what your rights are. Know, tho, that it will be expensive, and options are limited.

I knew that there had to be some nazis somewhere. Sure people said they all went into hiding after Germany was defeated in WW2, but taking over a homeowners association makes a lot of sense.

Try calling around. All you're looking for is a lawyer that has some experience in a particular area. They all take the same bar exam.

The good news is HOAs lose most of the cases they are involved in. They almost always cross the line and violate rights, laws, etc. I'm in an HOA that is currently in violation of federal law. I'm just waiting for them to mess with me and I'll drop the hammer on them. >B^)>

If you purchased property knowing there were deed restrictions and a governing HOA, then your hands are pretty much tied. Usually, HOA's give you time to get your property up to code. I imagine any lawyer (other than criminal) would help you out if you think you can afford to fight the restrictions.

I feel your pain! I think most HOA are run by either Nazis or extreme anal-retentive jerks. I can't help you, but wish you luck!
