You'll do great. Sing in front of your family or a small group of your pals... at first you're going to giggle a lot and feel REALLY nervous, but eventually, you'll be able to get through it. Work out the worst of it with THEM... they know you and will laugh right along with you. They love you and will enjoy your singing.

Also, imagine that you are actually feeling or thinking the words of the song you are singing... and that you really want the audience (or 'person you're talking to') to understand what you're feeling/saying. That kind of helps you focus more on WHY you're singing the song, rather than the people who are listening to you.

Third, don't stop in the middle of a song when you make a mistake... just pick up where you can. It's more awkward to completely stop, restart the song, blah blah blah than to just pick yourself up and continue on...

Lastly, if you end up performing in the evening, keep in mind that, when the house lights are down and the stage lights are up, you're really only going to be able to see people in the first two or three rows....

You will do FINE... and just keep doing it, if it's a dream of yours. You'll just get more and more experience that will help you refine your skills.

There HAS to be a special tecnique used by the stars. I think
hypnosis would be great. But I would go to a few websites
about "stagefrieght". I probably mispelled that. All I know is it
affects even the professionals sometimes. That's why alot of
them drink a little before showtime. I say just try to have fun with
it. Just let yourself cut loose. Don't be afraid, because people
love to hear others sing. Be confident. Just allow yourself to
feel good doing it. Block out the sourpusses, and sing to the
people who are having a good time. Good luck.

I never looked anyone in the eye when I started out singing in front of people. I'd look right over their heads. Avoiding eye contact was all I needed, really. The rest was just worrying about screwing up when I hit the high note, lol.

Good luck. You'll do great :)

Go do karaoke w/ your parents at a bar!! You'll get practice in front of crowds that way, and it will also help you by seeing how easily others do it with out caring... It might help you build up courage... Good luck hun...

valium.....just kidding....confidence is the best drug against stage fright..would suggest finding three or four visual contact points around the performance area to focus on ..(ie., a door frame, an ailse seat, a window, whatever) and look at those areas rather than the audience and do your best like you were all alone in your favorite and comfortable zone...

if that nevousness ever goes away, then i would be scared....

that nervousness is what pushes to do 300% rather than 100%...

use that feeling to show yourself you can do everything in the world, and not just anything.

is that nervousness part of your passion for singing or is the nervousness part of a fear of failing?

use the fear of failing to succeed in your head.... that is to do your extreme best for you

Practice practice practice, then when you get on stage look into the lights occasionally. This way you can't see the audience.
