yes, but they will eat all your fish if they get a pincher on them plus a stream has all kinds of parasites and all kinds of microbes that could wipe out your tropicals. crayfish will also try to get out of your tank and get back to the stream. can you tell i did this myself? yes and i will never do it again. but if you want to see them in a tank get a small one with a filter set-up and a lid that can be latched or have fun with the ones in the stream by putting some pellet food around some small rocks and watch them learn wear the food is. the raccoons, foxes, otters and skunks need to eat them more then we need to play with them so watch for tracks along the shore to also see who visits this water supply.

Yes, they can live in a tropical tank, but they are coldwater creatures. You should ideally have them in a coldwater tank with a tight fitting cover by themselves. They also eat fish, dead or alive. Crayfish are excellent climbers and will end up on your floor all dry and smelly. They are fascinating creatures though, aren't they?

I keep a number of crustaceans. Cherry shrimp (50), vampire shrimp (3), wood shrimp (5), ghost shrimp (3), Amano shrimp (3-4). Right now there are about 10 female cherry shrimp with egg clusters, so I will probably have more than a hundred in about a week.

If you have small fish in your tank, you might consider one or more of the varieties I mentioned instead.

Yes, they should be able to live in a tropical tank, in fact we used to sell them at the pet store I worked at. Be careful though because crayfish will eat any small fish(or other crayfish) you may have in your tank.

Not if you plan on keeping tropical fish in that tank. Crayfish pray on smaller fish.

yes, and what do you think they eat??? yep..Fish! They come out at night when your fish are "sleeping" on the bottom of the tank and ....oops! another fish bites the dust. Not a good idea if you like your fish. Good luck

Some people say yes. Some people would say no. I think they are for brackish aquariums since I mostly found them in muddy creeks where I am originally from.
