You saw that thing on A&E Last night about the 11 year old Nethaniel didn't you?
I think that he got a reasonable sentence. The people who said "11 year olds are not capable of pre-meditating a murder." Are wrong. When I was 11, I could plan out a murder easily. I did too. That kid even said to his girlfriend "im gunna shoot someone," and he did. That's pre-meditating right there. He deserved every ounce of his punishment.

Wow. Most people are pretty hard lined. Sure, eleven year olds do know something about right and wrong, but they are still only 11 and are not considered fully accountable for their actions in the same way as adults. Sometimes their parents totally neglect teaching them right from wrong.
If children were held completely accountable just like adults, then society would officially allow them to run in the streets, not go to school, run away from home, expect them to earn a living, let them drive, etc. So they do get a second chance, and sometimes more, at learning to be good adult citizens by going through a separate court system. And if their parents have not controlled them then they get sent to a separate juvenile detention system.
Supposed to work in theory, often doesn't. I agree you have to draw the line somewhere, but I don't agree you should try an eleven year old as an adult.

well the environment has a lot to do with it that's for sure. We learn what we are taught and as we go. gotta figure was he a kid or young man. one thing for sure he needs serious watching for a long time. Get him help he is young with a chance to wake up with a new way of looking at things. Believe me I'd like to be a executioner if i could . I believe in the death sentence then someone who kills knows they have a price to pay before they do the crime. Instead of the average 5 years

It depends on the situation. If it's one of those things where a kid and his friend are playing with his daddy's gun and the other kid gets shot, then the parents should be held accountable. If it's premeditated, however, I recommend psychiatry. There's no reason that anyone that young would want to shoot someone unless they're extremely disturbed, or just sociopathic.

Its obvious that anyone, regardless of age, that kills anyone is fuggin nutz. Unless I was defending my life or my daughters life I just could not imagine killing anyone.
Psych eval for the kid as well as being held in a psychiatric hospital. There are so many "repeat" offenders for a reason! They go to jail and do not get the proper help that they need.

yes, society is way too lenient and criminals (of all ages) have too many rights. It is absurd. I believe the child should be tried as an adult. Assuming of course, it was an intentional shooting.
Although why a child of that age would have a gun is beyond me.

They would have to appear before a juvenile judge and an appropriate sentence would be administered. If the wounded person was hospitalized, then the shooting would have been reported to the authorities.

If he knew what he was doing, he should be treated the same as an adult. I'm willing to be convinced an 11 yr old didn't understand what they were doing.
