That man is so nosy and mean. He is like the movie "Grumpy old Men". He loves to judge people he doesn't know. He has his good qualities, but his bad out weights the good.

First trying speaking to your spouse. He should know how you are feeling and he may be able to speak to his father. If your spouse is a loving person (he should want the best for you), and this means not subjecting you to this mean father-n-law. You did not marry the family you married him.

I know the feeling my in-laws have tried everything to come between me and my husband to the point my father-in-law threatened to shoot himself. No I haven't done anything they just got use to their son being at their beck and call and now he worries about things around here first. You can't change your hubbies family so the best thng to do is keep your distance. Let hubby go see them on his own and you take the time to go shopping or spend it with friends. Don't complain to your hubby as then he feels caught in the middle between you and them. Either they will come around or they won't if they do just be as nice as you cn and celebrate when they leave.

Everytime he is mean I would siply ignore his comment. People like a re-action. He obviously is arguementative and likes getting a re-action from people so he has some to argue his points with. Dont feed into any of it. IF he says something to stir the pot so to speak, smile and find something else to keep you busy. Walk into another room to check on the kids, or on dinner, or something...anything.

stay away from him as much as possible. don't make your husband chose between you and him. if you have kids, as long as he is not mean to them, don't keep them away from him. you don't have to like him. but if you can keep from making a big issue out of it, you might be able to live with it. also, on the occasions that you do have to breathe the same air as him, try to occupy yourself with other things so that you don't have to listen to him. oh yeah, make sure you tell your husband how you feel so that he doesn't out you in an uncomfortable situation. good luck.

Distant yourself from him-move your family to a different city or state. If he is old- put him in a retirement home in a different state. Or you can always state your ground and tell him that you do not appreciate his judgments. After all he will continue to do it so until he sees that you will not tolerate it anymore.

why let him affect your marriage. you don't have to see him except on the obligatory family holidays and I'm sure that's not enough to affect your marriage.
