Places like GameStop will usually buy your old consoles, and then you could buy another system. You'd still need to add money, because a 360 costs way more money, but you could at least put your XBox towards the cost.

With a person, only if it's modded (you know, has hundreds of games programed into it). Store-wise, no.
You can sell it and use the money to buy a 360. If you just bought it you can also return it and use that money towards the 360.

Yes, I suppose it is possible... if you found someone willing to do it. Check pawn shops, swap meets, flea markets, and even usenet. Somebody's bound to want to trade back down.
If you're asking whether you could trade your Xbox in to Microsoft for an upgrade; sorry buddy, keep dreaming.

It depends on who you are trading to. If you are trading to an idiot (aka a normal person, normal being the majority of people times how long it has been that way), it will be easy.

You might be able to get some trade in value for it but you will not be able to do a clean trade for it.

If you did you probably wouldn't get much a trade in value for it. They will screw you over so you might as well keep the old one.
