What time of year are black arowana fry available on the market?
i know they're seasonal and sometimes pretty rare but i'm too broke to buy a big one and to be honest, i'd much rather raise a fish as a fry and watch them grow things just seem more worth it. all answers are verey much appreciated =]

i know silver arowanas hit the market in FEB these is when alot of the small ones get exported.

a black arowana will only retain its coloration for a week months and then turn silver like the silver arowana.

Arowana fry are very touchy and hard to raise. It is best to get one that is larger. 3-4" is a good starting point. At this size they are past that real delicate stage.

Silvers are much more readily available. The blacks can be very expensive. I worked in a wholesale fish business and the black arowanas were anywhere from $30 to $150 depending on the size. Remember, this is wholesale price. Retail is 2-4 times the wholesale cost.
