You can't get him to stop he has to stop for himlself. But You can make it really hard on him Like deny him your affection of any kind when he has been drinking. If that fails just beat the crap out of him!

Unfortunately that is something that he must decide to do on his own. I suggest that maybe you start taking him to AA meetings. Remember this, they can only motivate and support him, they cannot GET HIM TO STOP, the choice is his. Counseling and meetings are only as effective as the individual allows them to be.
Know that alcoholism is a serious illness. It's an addiction that is hard to get rid of . Be supportive to your boyfriend and don't nag at him. Let him know that you love him and that you care about him. Help him through these difficult times.
My father was an alcoholic up until I was three years old. My brother was addicted to prescription drugs. That is how I have learned about these things.
I wish you all of the luck.
Oh Yes, it wouldn't hurt you to start going to support groups either. They will help you cope and give you suggestions as to how to live with the situation

You can't he has to want to stop on his own. My boyfriend drinks alot and I have tried everything it is just something that he is going to have to deal with own his own. Because, you might see it as a problem but he doesn't and he isn't going to want to change until he is ready to change himself. So, when he figures out his drinking is really taking a toll on his life and not just his relationship. He will seek help himself. Until then just pray about it. Good Luck!!!

You can't,he has to what to stop.He has to first admit to himself and to others that he has a problem, then he has to want to get help.Until that happens,he will continue to drink. You can talk to him about it (when he's sober),because you have a better chance of him hearing and understanding you if he is sober. He probably won't like it but his reaction to that conversation will not be as bad as if he were drunk. Now,if he is (abusing you in any way) it is time for you and your child or children if you too have any to go.Everything you and as i said if you too have any children say and do is going to get on his nerves, then he'll take it out on you or them or both ,either by hitting or verbally abusing you.If he is already doing that you should get out now before it gets worse.

First its AA, second if you are serious about him quitting make it conditional to staying together. If he quits then you know you are important to him. If he doesnt you know alcohol is definately a problem. Good luck
