As an American citizen who has been a legal resident of the UK for six years I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that you will not be able to get a job here in the UK. Work Permits are only available for "professional" jobs (doctors, dentists, nurses) or clergy (priests, etc). When I came to the UK I was not allowed to work at all and I had a legitimate job in the medical field (laboratory). I was offered 5 different jobs and had my work permit rejected each time. Luckily my boyfriend had a well-paying job and was able to comfortably support both of us. After 2 years we married and I was able to apply for my Spousal Visa and eventually my Indefinate Leave to Remain Visa which gives me pretty much all the rights of a UK citizen without actually being a citizen.
It is VERY difficult to enter into the UK and set up home and make a living. The immigration laws have become tighter. I suggest going onto a UK immigration website and reading up on all of the requirements, laws, etc. Short of marrying a British citizen I don't see how you are going to be able to do it. This is coming from someone who has been there/done that. I definately suggest staying away from those "marriage of convienence" scams. You could get into serious trouble for that. I was with my boyfriend for 2 years before we married and we married for love..not a visa. Even though it was a long, exspensive (the visas are major exspensive) road we played by the rules and did everything by the book. We've been together for six years now.
For any UK citizens wanting to do the same and go to the USA it's just as tough, if not tougher to get in there and set up home. We've looked into it already.

Car salesmen are ten a penny here, so that wont help you at all.
Personally i wouldnt be considering the UK; everybody I know is planning leaving the UK within the next 5 years. Most are just waiting to sell property or complete training.
Spain, OZ, NZ all these places are booming; the UK stalled years ago and has been stuck on the hard shoulder taking hits ever since.
But if you want to be unemployed, cold, wet, depressed by the persistant dullness, scared to go into hospital with a splinter and die of MSRA, wait 9mths to see your dentist and pay WAY over the odds for accommodation - then come on over, you'll love it.

You know most people will be running for the hills from a used car sales manager. Most people make it their vocation in this country to avoid the annoying buggers while trying to browse quiety at a possible selection of cars in the forecourt. But can we do that? NO CHANCE you hound our every move with shady deals and half ended offers which are truly a rip off just so you can bag yourself commision. I think they should ban them WHOS WITH ME????????

I suspect that your career choice is not in short supply in the UK, so they will not allow you to emigrate for that kind of job. Perhaps you should find a British subject to marry you.
