Let us see here this is her day and you are making it special just for her. not like other holidays it just her. she is the center of your attentions on that day. Feeling special silly.
Thus, we are forced into the conclusion that birthdays are about self-delusionally defying death. Birthdays are about preserving the illusion of immortality. Birthdays are forms of acting out our magical thinking. By celebrating our existence, we bestow on ourselves protective charms against the meaninglessness and arbitrariness of a cold, impersonal, and often hostile universe.

And, more often than not, it works. Happy birthday!

It sounds like you have a problem with romance. It also sounds like you resent being made to feel that you should do romantic gestures for your girlfriend. Listen, you are not required to be romantic. There is not a woman alive who would find anything a person did romantic if it was done with resentment, anger, or any other negitive connitation. While you are not requred to do these types of qestures for your girlfriend, a woman is also not requred to choose a boyfriend who simply in so immature and selfish he resents doing anything romantic towards or with his girlfriend which makes the event or the woman feel special.

Being taken out for your birthday is not always romantic anyway. It is not romantic when your friends take you out or your parents or siblings or coworkers, etc. Romance only comes into the event when it IS your boyfriend or girlfriend taking the person out. As it is the significant other in a romantic relationship taking the person having a birthday out which brings a romantic feel to the event.

It can't be romantic unless there is a romantic relationship. If there is a romantic relationship and the man feels resentful of doing anything romantic for his girl, then there is some significant problem in the relationship. A man who really loves the woman he is with does not resent doing anything which brings his woman happiness, joy, or makes her feel special, wanted and desired. If you do not feel this way about the woman you are with you should take a look at why. She should also know you are having resentments as she has a right to choose whether or not she wishes to stay in a relationship with somebody who does not love her or at the least does not wish to do anything to romance her or make her feel she is the most special woman in her man's life.

So, to sum this up, it is only romantic when the person taking out the birthday girl is a romantic partner. Romantic partner simply meaning a relationship several degrees higher than friendship, one in which love at a romantic level is envolved. You see, romantic relationship equates with a romantic birthday outing with that person. It is difficult for romance to not be involved if your partner, your romantic partner is the one taking you out. If you wish to seperate out the romance then the relationship is not one of romantic love. Get it?

I hope this helps you understand why a woman feels her man is romantic taking her out on her birthday, and if you don't feel romantic towards her you should find one you will feel this way towards, otherwise you are cheating both of you from what is a wonderfull relationship. I suggest you think long and hard about why you do NOT feel it should be romantic to take out your girlfriend on her birthday.

It's just basically an excuse to have money spent on them to do something greedy, aka, eat in an expensive restaraunt while someone else pays for it. Same goes for Valentines Day, X-mas, whatever. I'd rather sit at home and watch TV and eat a Carrot cake for my bday. I don't even want gifts.

because if her friends ask her "what did you do for ur bday"? and she says nothing jus stayed home..then u will be looked at as a bad bf lol
depends what she wants to do on her special day that will be romantic for her..different people have different views of what is romantic.

Anything can be romantic if you are creative enough and your significant other is receptive to it. I have more problems finding girls receptive to romanticism than I have trouble coming up with romantic event ideas.
