I just saw them a few hours ago in a crowd if 70,000 at Lollapalooza, and they rocked. People were more rowdy for other bands because they actually wanted to watch rhcp play, so they paid more attention. But all three days at the festival (they just played one night) people were doing pot, but it was a huge wild festival in Chicago, not an indication of the Chili Peppers, although there will be a variety of fans there. They're a crazy act on stage, but it all depends where you go if the people will be crazy or not. Most people weren't moshing (some were when I saw Panic! at the disco on Friday) but there was some crowd surfing. For the most part, people just sing and dance along.
If you're just 13, and your parents won't let you go alone, have them come but separate, and stay with a group of friends.
**Although as far as safety goes, festivals probably aren't as safe as an organized, stadium affair or whatever, just because of the amount of people crammed into a first come/first serve basis
*Also, 13 isn't too young to go as long as you're responsible and with responsible people. They wouldn't look at you funny,t hey'd be proud to reach such a large variety of age groups.
...sorry this is so long, but I love them. It's really awesome to see a band that's been around for 23 years and still kicks ***. Try and go! It's worth it

13 and in love with the Chili Peppers.
That's funny, because the first time I saw them in concert (with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam as the 2 openers) they were touring Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and I was about 15 or 16... I'm 30 something now.
Yes, the Peppers really have been around that long.
I jumped at the chance to see them, thinking I might miss out, as bands don't last forever. And here it is, probably 15 plus years later, and they're still on the charts.
by the way, blood sugar sex magik was their first real breakthrough album. They were around for years beforehand, but that's the one that got them on radio stations around the world with songs like Naked in the Rain, Under the Bridge, and Give it Away.
(giveitaway, giveitaway, giveitaway nowwwwwwww) hehe
I think I actually had them on vinyl years ago with something that came out before then...
Wow, I'm old.
Anyway, since they've been together so long, if you get a chance to go, I say take it. It's similar to any other rock concert. There might be crackheads there, but I seriously doubt it. You might catch a whiff of Columbian Sun (hehe) but I've been to hundreds of concerts and never seen crack being passed around.
Just be safe on who you go with, and stick together, you'll be fine.
And never, ever, esp. at your age, go backstage.

My 15 year old son is in Chicago right now at Lollapalooza. He's seeing the Peppers tomorrow. I'll ask him how the crowd behaved.
The safest way for younger people to see good bands is always in a festival setting. If Lolla comes to your town - GO!
Don't wait until you're older. If they break up or something, you'd be so sad you missed the chance. Just don't get in the mosh pit and you'll be fine.
Follow the Peppers motto:
"This life is more than just a read-through"

one million. Chili Peppers, in particular the loopy ancient stuff from the past due Eighties and early Nineties. Reminds me to my wild days. two. Foo Fighters, generally on the grounds that I feel Dave Grohl is a quality chap three. Nirvana, and that is NOT approximately musical first-class. But I was once a punk again then and observed Nirvana and a number of the grunge motion slightly too international-weary.

You are too young to go to their concerts. You're too young to go to any concerts. Stay home and watch them on tv and listen to their music. Even people at concerts would look at you funny. And if the Red Hot Chili Peppers happened by chance to see you they would think you have really bad parents for letting you go to one of their concerts. I love them too.

You should go if you want, if it gets rowdy then move to a different spot. If you don't believe in doing crack don't do it, and if the crack heads give you trouble report them if you can.
