I have moved my reef 5 times and never lost a thing, but never cross the entire country. The trick is to center the entire move around the reef. It is the last thing to be torn down and packed and the 1st to be unpacked and set up. Also you will need to pack all your fish and corals in bags just like the ones from the fish store and use pure oxygen to inflate them. Next after they are all in there bags pack them into good quality ice chests (not the crappy foam throw aways) and duct tape them sealed. All of the live rock needs to be in coolers and under the water line as well, then sealed with duct tape. save all of the water that comes out with the exception of the muck at the very bottom. Have access to more on the other end of the move when you set up because you will be short some. Also have some R.O. h2o there as well. If you can make the trip as short as possible (haul ***)
Good luck.
It is easier to sell and purchase new on the other end, but I am attatched to my reef and wanted to give it a shot. Plus nobody will pay you sh*t for your stuff.

A coral reef couldn't be moved but the individual corals from a reef aquarium can be moved\shipped if thats what you mean. A lot of coral sellers use overnight FedEx - in a bags like fish bags, styrofoam cooler with heat or cool pack depending on the temperature.

Absolutely NOT.. coral reefs are very very fragile and CANNOT in any way be moved

you could ship the corals but it would be expensive (overnight shipping is required) and not recommended. better to sell your contents and start over when you settle in.
