I;m in inner city Ohio and one of the charter schools (private schools using public funds) used that as a ploy to enroll students from the city. The school eventually shut down. The kids didn't get their laptops or even a computer.

So that's where President Bushis sending all the money tagged for No Child Left Behind??

No way! Most schools don't have enough desktops to go around in study hall, let alone laptops for all.

Honestly, I think that is a profane waste of money-it makes me sick that a school would spend that much money on laptops. There is so much more effective media equiptment, and other teaching tools to spend on.

I'm in rural Ohio, so it'll be a while before we make the jump to laptops for all. The private school actually stopped doing it (reason unknown) last year or the year before. Honestly, I don't think my schools even ready for the jump to laptops.
