Playing your fastest, how many notes can you PICK in one second? basically doing legatos, not tapping, arpegios, or sliding wierd, but just doing a cool smooth legato, how many notes can you pick, or whati s your fastest? if i was just toi play on one string, and do a four note patern down the neck, i would do four notes, four notes, ect really fast, and in one second i can do 16 notes in one second. thats good. it took me years to do that. remember, we are talking about picking each note, not tapping or sweep picking, its too easy that way, and no messing up. have fun

i dont wanna come off as an egotist, but ya, im definatly in a trance too when i play, i use to not care about nps, but it really organizes your speed, and it can teach you for instance, i do 4x4, 4 xs so thats 16 per second. i can play it back slowly, and it will sound classical, that is the thing, if it wont sound good slow, it wont sound good fast. i started playing slow stuff, but i always knew i was fast, nps organized my speed, and i was phrasing better, and no one should think that discovering how many nps you can do is dumb or showing off, it can help you. remember, speed comes from a steady source, not a bizzare busrt of speed. it also taught me to remain playing how fast i was instead of doing a burts of speed. i can even sound smooth doing it. you may think its a waste of time, but wouldnt you want to know how fast you are? it is a great way to measure speed.
