How do you feel about spanking? My friend has 3 kids and she sayid that the other day she made her 12 yr old son pull down his pants and wait in his room until his dad got home to spank him. When his dad got home he got 6 switches and spanked his son for about 35 min. All he did was steal something. what do you think about this.

damn!...wow! thats a lot...especially for a 12 year old...and for stealing something...just make him go back and return it...or make him pay (money) for it!

Parents shouldn't spank any 12 year old kid. Especially in about 35 minutes. Those parents shouldn't spank any 12 or above year olds. They have only serious talks about any problem and after they want them to return in back to the owner.Those parents must be really strict on any child they have.

i consider spanking to be okay as a last resort. as far as the situation ur talking about 35 minutes is to long, getting 6 switches would have sufficed . Stealing is wrong, would you tell someone that your child "just stole" something.
I belive in givingspankings, but I also believe there is a line or a limit to how it is done.

well i think 12 is a little old to be spanking a child. i really would disagree if his mom did it. i think 35 min is also a little long, and in this day and age could be considered child abuse. i would try other punishments such as taking things away from him, grounding him, etc.

Im glad I saw this. Spanking is not abuse, I'm sure most people know that. Spanking is disipline!! I suggest if you do spank your kids, use your hand so you know if you are being to harsh. Spanking is punishment remember that.

ALL he did was steal something! thats bad. and yea i think that switch was a great idea. if all kids got switched we would have very well behaved children. but all the spanks isnt that great.

I have mixed feelings about it. On the one side, since there is such a fine line between discipline and abuse and most parents cannot differentiate between the two, then it would be wise not to touch a child.
On the other hands, a lot of them SURE DO ASK FOR IT!!!

that sounds pretty abusive i mesn 35 mins! my mom used 2 do it 4 like 4 secondes! u should talk 2 her about this and watch her behavior w/ the kids

Stealing is a bad thing, but I wouldnt abuse my child over anything. She should have made him work to pay off what he stole, and took away things like tv and video games.
