Unless your name is DenimWoman, you shouldn't do that

It's definately a fashion don't to wear a denim jacket with denim jeans regardless of the colour.. what about wearing a different pair of trousers or a skirt ?

Yeah you don't want to do that! Doesn't look very attractive. A light denim jacket with dark denim jeans is not something you want to wear, and plus you never wear them together.

Definately a don't. It's easier anyway to pick one denim piece in your outfit and work around it. Even if the denim jacket matches the jeans it's way too much. AKA denim overload circa 1980.

It doesn't sound like it would match too well. If the jacket is just a little lighter, as in 1/2 a shade, fine, anything lighter would be a fashion NO NO.

Try the outfit on, look in the mirror, and ask yourself : "If I saw someone else wearing this, what would I think of them and the outfit?" The jacket probably wouldn't look terrible, especially of the sleeves are short, and it only goes about midway down your torso. To look really fashion forward, I wood wear a bold colored pair of leggings with some flats or pumps, and a big handbag.Maybe even put your hair up, and wear one of those bands (Nicole Richie always wears them) around your head.
If you like the outfit, wear it with confidence, and people will catch your vibe and think it looks great.

I would have to see the jacket and jeans to tell you that...sometimes the two go together because of the way they are cut,but sometimes they don't...One more thing if that is you in the picture you should NEVER wear burnt orange...it doesn't look good with your skin complexion.

I just had to read the answers to your question, I couldn't believe what I read.
Most said, Fashion Don't.
Incredible! I suppose it's some rule, unwritten, but understood by all the ladies.
Who made that up, who enforces it, why is it unwritten.
Hon, do you know where new fashion trends come from, by people who, did the Fashion Don'ts, and made their own fashion statements.
If you really like it, do it. At least you will ahead of the crowd.

It's ok to do it according to the LUCKY shopping manual. "Pairing denims is not a problem. Just keep the washes far enough apart that it's clear you're not trying to match-or break up the denim-fest with a bold pattern." page 118

The jacket will go best with a white blouse and a dark green skirt. Don't forget the rust leather boots!

I live in the same town as Texas A&M University, and I see the students here wearing that combo all the time---I have worn that combo too, and didn't think twice about it.

Don't try to follow the dos and the donts. Do what makes you feel pretty :)
