for example I could be talking to him about my day , but I could tell he is hearing me but he's not really listening it's like Im talking to the wall.

Stop talking about your day and ask about his Or wait till he calls you he would be calling to tell you something if this doesn't help then say something exciting to get his attention ex:I'm moving then continue on your old subject that should catch his attention

Make your conversations interesting to him. Learn manspeak. If what you say is interesting to him, he will listen.
If he talks to you about football, or something you don't get into, how do you react????
People listen to what they are interested in, and tend to tune out what they aren't.
If you don't know your guy well enough to know what will catch his attention---then learn.
If you don't care to learn, then get out of the relationship because it is doomed.

he's a guy...nuff said. just try talking to him when he's completely focused on you, and make eye contact when you're telling him somehting important. you'll have him trained in no time ;)
