I thought that to when I was in high school. But now I find it more interesting because I live here than European history. I started digging into the past and discovered that the United States is rich with history and cultures. Start digging. Your history teachers must have sucked like mine. My history teacher was my basketball coach too. I think he may have had his mind on that more than real education.

Well Europe has a lot more history to offer. American history is very short in comparison. Realistically American history has to be studied in the context of European history since it is really an extension of Europe in the early part of it. We dont have any kings queens or knights, not that many wars either. Not a lot of action compared to European history.

I agree with those who say that there is much more of European history, so American history just seems less interesting in comparison. But no history is really boring. It's always fascinating, assuming you approach it with an attitude of coming away with an understanding.

I noticed that also. I loved learning about the Holocaust, the French Revolution, the Plague, etc. But when it comes to learning about all of the American Presidents and how they "built this country", I go cross-eyed. Maybe it is because America is such a young country compared to the others, and they just haven't accumulated enough interesting history.

I thought it was boring too, but we did not go through the native Americans(American Indians). i think if we covered that in school, it would be more interesting.
Also, i read a book saying that the Viking discovered America before Columbus. People found some ancient ruins related to the Viking in the northern part of America

We have accomplished a lot in our short history 200 years is nothing. Europe is so old of course they have more history, but history might not be your subject of interest. Or your teacher sucks.

The way history is 'taught' in the US is boring. The actual history is not.
