I bought a mossberg 20 gauge shotgun that kicks as hard as my 12 gauge browning, any ideas how to soften the kick??
With trap shooting the kick is becoming a distraction.

A lot depends on the design. Is it a single shot? A double shot? These tend to 'kick' more because they have less weight on the forend.

Have a better recoil pad installed. Get it ported, although it will become louder and have more of a muzzle flash. Or, switch shotguns.

An automatic or pump will probably recoil less.
