that is an intersting point. see how selfish women are who are so quick to get an abortion. they say it is their body so they can abort the child if they want - but that child is half it's father's so what gives her the right. and then, if the guy wants them to get the abortion, and she doesn't like you mentioned - she is gonna be all over him for child support but he did not want the baby anyway ...how now?
these women just want their cake and eat it, too. "selfish" is the word.
How can a person tell a man to keep is stuff in his pants if he does not want a child, but does not tell the woman to keep her legs closed? that she can simply get an abortion? you people are twisted.

Unfortunately, there are alot of women out there who don't KNOW who the father is, and an abortion seems to be the only answer they can think of. Conversely, there are many men who have no idea how many women they may have gotten pregnant. If 2 people are in an intense relationship, then most likely they would discuss abortion as an option between the 2 of them. If the relationship is casual, it makes it that much more difficult to make a decision. If a man gets a woman pregnant, he can spend the rest of his life not even knowing about it, or having others know about it. Once a woman gets pregnant and starts showing, everyone knows. She will spend the rest of her life being judged, either as the woman who had an abortion, the town tramp who got knocked up,a single mother or a married mother--getting pregnant will affect the rest of her life in every aspect. If a couple aren't comfortable having a discussion about what to do in the event of an unwanted pregnancy, then they are not mature enough to be having sex. The only positive way to not conceive is to abstain, which I think more people need to do. Life is difficult enough without having a child grow up unwanted, and being a single parent is not easy. There are so many children out there right now that will never know who their real father is, either because the woman slept with different partners, or the father got out of the picture before he knew he was going to be a dad. With all the birth control available today, there is absolutely no reason for an unwanted pregnancy, aside from rape. If you want to be dumb enough to play, then you had better be ready to pay. From the way your question sounds, it appears as if you definitely ARE NOT ready to be a responsible parent or adult, so do us all a favor and keep you pants zipped up.

Coragryph is right on the money. I am simply going to restate it in easier terms.
Abortion pits the right of a woman to control her own body, against the right of the fetus to live.
Just as the father cannot require that a woman, even his wife, receive certain medical treatment, nor can he make choices over her own body. The choice about what to do with her own body is strictly the woman's.
Now, the right of the fetus to live is another matter. That is why, as explained above, the state can limit the rights to abortion.
Nowhere, however, is the father's right implicated. This is because he neither has a legal "interest" in the woman's body, nor the rights of the fetus to live.
It may be wrong, but that is the logic until the Supreme court changes it or the constitution is amended.

In the case you used, I have to agree. There are so many childless people out there who would love to have a child, even the father in the case you stated perhaps.
I am only for abortion in the case of the risk to mother, the baby itself, or rape. I can't see forcing a woman to carry a child that stemmed from rape. Unother than that,I think all avenues should be ventured if the mother doesn't want the child, starting with the father, then family, and lastly adoption to a childless couple.

The issues are unrelated.
During pregnancy, pre-viability, the only person who is directly involved is the mother. The embryo is not yet an independent person for the very simple fact that it cannot survive outside the mother, not even with the assistance medical life support. That's the definition of pre-viability.
During the pregnancy, because the woman is the only person directly involved in an ongoing manner, she has final say over what happens within (and to) her body.
After viability, and after birth, the baby exist independently and has legal rights. Among those rights are entitlements to care, which the govt assesses as financial obligations to the parents. Both parents.
After birth, both parents are equally financially responsible for the child, based on the appropriate state and federal laws.
So, the issue of what happens (medically) internal to the woman's body, and the issue of what happens financially after birth, are entirely distinct. Why is why they are unrelated legal questions.

No. The man has no right to tell the woman what to do with her body.
The man SHOULD however know that even if he wears a condom or if other methods of birth control are used, there is still a chance of pregnancy.
The moment the man takes his penis out, he becomes responsible.
If the woman wants the baby, she can have the baby no matter what the man says or wants. If the woman doesn't want the baby, it's still her body and her choice, and she has EVERY right to abort it.

you have an exellent point , exept for the not paying child support thing . They should make both parents sign papers to get an abortion , if the woman wants to abort and the man doesn't she should have the baby give him custody and pay him child support . The man should have a say if he wants his child or not

the woman has some control over her own body. Give the man that option, and he will always claim he wants the fetus aborted.

I agree, i was wondering if anyone had any updates on that matt guy who is fighting against paying child support since his girlfriend told him there was no way she could ever get pregnant.
And what with the women saying YOU should use a condom or YOU should keep your pee pee in you pants? We have all of the same resources to protect oursleves from getting pregnant. and its not like you men are just so charming that we HAVE to give into your lustful ways.
Women want SPECIAL rights, they dont want EQUAL rights.

then keep you d**k in your pants and no kids will result you a$$
hey sweetie:he isn't really concerned if a woman aborts his child,he just wants to be able to say" get an abortion I don't want to pay for this child"
he wants us to rationalize not taking care of a child. almost EVERY MAN PAYING CHILD SUPPORT WOULD GO BACK AND SAY "I WANTED HER TO ABORT,DON'T MAKE ME PAY" if given the option.
