I have many actors I like: Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Samuel L. Jackson, Mel Gibson, Gary Oldman and Sean Bean. If I had to choose just one of those actors I'd chose Johnny Depp to be my favourite. Which one would you chose (out of these)?

Johnny Depp has the most reach... He can portray just about anything and be believable at it. He's very serious about his work, yet doesn't take himself too seriously at the same time... that's pretty amazing for an actor these days!

Depp is the best actor working these days. He is absolutely fearless and he really is an actor, taking on a variety of different roles, unlike the greatly over-rated Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino. Those guys basically played the same character in most everything they did.

I will choose Mel Gibson. He was really good in Braveheart, The Patriot, Hamlet and Ransom and a lot more. Although Al Pacino was also good in The Godfather series and also a lot more.
My favorite actors are Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis and Orlando Bloom.
Sorry I thnk I was supposed to choose one each,its just that I want to list the others too.

I think I would have to say Johnny Depp. That answer surprises me since I think that in the "real world" he is too political and too partisan. However, if you look strickly at his film careeer, than he is golden! He has the ability to portray so many different roles and do them extremely well. In all the movies I have seen him in, (except for the Willie Wonka remake) he was fantastic and believeable. He takes his roles seriously and acts with diversity. Not that the other actors you listed are bad, but they all seem to play the same types of roles. Depp gives you choices.

I really like Mel Gibson because he has grown a great deal since the Lethal Weapon days...I loved the patriot, braveheart, the ransom...those were good movies and very well acted I really dont think that they would have been good had brad pitt or someone else been in the role...I do like Johnny Depp and the movie I really like him in is What's Eating Gilbert Grape and oh I like Benny and Joon as well

All of them are really talented. (Mel Gibson just needs to keep his mouth shut about his "love" for Jews).
But I think one of the most universal actors has to be Johnny Depp. Beside looking absolutely gorgeous in any role, he can be a pirate, edward scissorhands, a writer, and God knows what else!

I would probably have to choose Christian Bale with Johnny being a very close second!
Both of them are AMAZING actors, but Christian Bale just blew me away when he played Batman!

You have picked and outstanding crew here. Each has there own merit and are excellent in what they do.
But I feel the one that has the most depth is Johnny Depp. Hard to believe there is anything he couldn't do and appear to be a completely different personality.
All the rest are excellent but seem to take a bit of themselves with them for each part.
While any of these actors appearing in a film would make me want to see it my all time favorite is......Sean Connery as 007.
