First of all, Happy Birthday!! Second, most things aren't all that they seem... perhaps your friend is having money problems, or family problems, or simply hasn't been raised in a loving environment and taught to have good manners. So, basically you need to decide whether this is a good person that you want in your life ( in which case are the party favours important or you helping a good friend through tough times?).... or is this recouring behavour from a thoughtless individual? If it is the latter... get this toxic person out of your life for good. Just walk away... toxic people don't care to change. If he is a good person, then you should also be a good person and show him the love and support that clearly is lacking in the rest of his life.

Did they forget it was your birthday???? Ask them if it's normal in their family to have the Birthday girl/boy pay for a friend on their birthday. And, let them know you are ticked off.

I feel very sorry for you. They don't seem to be a very caring 'friend' I think when you have calmed down say something to that person just to let them know how hurt you feel/felt, that it was your birthday & their actions were not acceptable. Good luck & ***Happy Birthday***

WOW...it sounds as if somebody has angled themselves for an A-1 cussin' out!
It's a tough job, but somebody has got to do it!
So...let loose with everything in you and end this sham of a friendship...TODAY!

Tell them how you feel and give your honest opinion. You have nothing to lose because it doesn't sound like they haven't been a good friend anyway.

That person would not be my friend any longer, being rude and crude is pitiful and inexcusable .
