It all goes back a long time ago to when the ancient supercontinent Pangea broke up into the continents of Gondwanaland and Laurasia.

The crocodiles and alligators had coexisted on Pangea for some time. One day they noticed a rift forming across the continent and knew it was splitting.

Ali T. Gator told his buddy Ray Croc O' Dile that he was going to stay on the northern half and see where it went.

Ray thought the weather up there would be cold, and said he was going south.

So, as the rift spread and the two parted, Ray said to Al, "See you later, Ali Gator."

Al replied, "after awhile, Croc O' Dile."

Now, millions of years later, their descendants are holding a grand reunion ball in Florida. I hear they're trying to get the band T-Rex to play. Seems they're into dinosaur rock.

What's up, buttercup? and other phrases of the heinous ilk were likely spawned by an amateur wordsmith looking to get in another's pants via cute rhyme schemes.
