I am getting a divorce. We do not have kids or a house. How long will it take before the divorce is final?

Not long at all. In some states, there is a waiting period between the filing date and the actual decree. If you two have worked out a property settlement and attest to that, it's a slam dunk.

Well it took me 7 months to go through the process of trying to get everything worked out..A no contest divorce through an attorney took 30 days to be final from the day they was signed..

Good luck to you hope it all works out with no problems!!

I was divorced 3 years ago. My ex husband was served the papers, but did not show up in court. My lawyer asked me 3 questions and I requested my maiden name back. The judge told me congratulations Ms. Blakey informing me he gave me my maiden name back along with my dissolution of marriage and I left a divorced woman with a copy of my signed divorce papers in my hand. It all took about 4 minutes. I was divorced on the very 1st court appearance about 6 weeks after I filed. He was informed via mail I was divorcing him.
