Yes, the egg survives (on average) for about 48 hours after being released. Sperm only last for up to 24 so in total, you can get preg on average for 3 or 4 days. (one day before, the day of, and one or two after ovulation) take care.

LOL, you can NOT get pregnant every single day of the month. You can get pregnant if you have sex 5 days before you ovulate up until about 12-24 days after. The things is...you don't know in advanced when you will ovulate. Woman typically ovulate on day 14 (but come on...really...how many of us are NOT typical?) Sperm can live in the woman (if she has the right quality of fluid) for up to five days. Thus the five day before ovulation thing.
Scientists disagree on how long after you ovulate you can get pregnant. Some say that egg starts to deteriorate as soon at it is released and there needs to be sperm waiting for it for it to be a sucessful pregnancy. Others say that it will stay viable for a few hours. All pretty much agree that after 24 hours the egg can not be fertilized.

BUT...the big question is "how do you know you ovulated???" You need to know FOR SURE that you ovulated. Some women get signs that they are about to ovulate and then they don't. They then think it is safe to have unprotected sex. But them bam! they really do ovulate a few days later and the little sperm are just awaiting away for the egg.

By charting your cycles you can figure out when you ovulated. It takes a lot of work but it is a ton of fun. You need to chart using your BBT or basal body temperature (your tempature of your body when you first wake up in the morning) As well as other signs like cervical fuild and cervical height and firmness. Check out any book about Natural Family Planning or Fertility Awareness Method. I as well as many other believe the best book out there for this type of subject is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" It is easy to read and understand.

So the basic answer to your question is NO you can't. But remember....you need to know FOR SURE that you ovulated. None of this "I think I ovulated yesterday so we don't need protection" stuff :-)

Yes you can! Go to babycenter.com. There is an ovulation calendar which shows the most fertile days.

Yes, it takes a while for the egg to travel down the Fallopian tube, where that feisty little sperm will be waiting for it. (Sperm can live up to a few days inside you.)

The egg has to go through the fallopian tube to your uterus, which takes time ... but sperm also have some lifespan inside the uterus. So you are at risk, yes.
