Get soem books on writing dissertaions. Cohen and Manyon have written extensively about writing research projects. I've got a couple of their books and they are excellent. I suggest getting something by them rather than getting advice here as they are very knowledgable and far superior to any advice I could give in a soare 10 minutes.

There's not alot of information here, but I would pick a topic that is the closest to your dreams and ambitions in the field. That will keep you energized and focused. I would meet with 3 people who have already earned their Masteries in Social Work and talk with them about their experiences. You can find them in many different settings.
