I went in Sept. after school started. there were families with little kids, but not a lot of action at the older rides. some very short lines, very little waiting. not at all crowded. We also once went on Superbowl sunday. there was almost no one there! families with dads would be doing other things, like watching pre game show at hotel?? in a rainstorm once we just stayed inside magic mountain and rode it over and over, waiting just 2 or 3 minutes between rides. If school is out, it's busy. good luck!

I have always enjoyed Disney at Halloween time. It's not too hot, the crowds are there but not overly crowded with "tourist". Avoid Halloween day. Just an all around pleasant time.
Most guide books at a book store have the schedules of peak and off peak seasons. Disney pretty much has all of that down to a science. That should give you some idea.

You may want to try during the school year. You can't avoid the crowds all together though. Disneyland is an international tourist trap.

I would think your best bet would be September 5th. Thats the day after labor day and when most kids should be back in school. However, Disneyland is always crowed, but come on, it has to be less crowded when school is in then in the summer time.

Avoid ANY holidays, or spring break (forget the whole month of March). Summer pretty much stinks as well. I would go VERY late in summer if I had to, as most vacationers go early summer when schools get out. The most ideal time to go if you can is in Fall, after school starts back up. It's not too hot , or cold then either.

If you go on January 1, there are very little crowds. That is, until about 2:30 or 3. Usually everyone is still too hung over to go on the rides.

Two answers:
1) go in the afternoon/evening hours, because many parents take their children there in the morning/early afternoon, because they know their children will become tired by mid-afternoon, so they try to leave by then, plus the heat is less intense when the sun starts to go down.
2) Take the speed-pass option (I know DisneyWorld in Orlando Florida has this option). It costs a little more per ride, however it allows you to go into the "speed pass" line, which allows you to go in before those standing in the regular lines-- it means you get on before others do.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy yourself!

Not summer or winter time. Kids are on break then. Try going just after school starts. If you have kids then wait til October, but fall would be my best bet.
