Make a washcloth wet with cold water and GENTLY massage each lip for about 30 seconds each. More or less time depending on how dry your lips are. After this dab some vaseline on. The exfoliating will plump your lips a little as well, so this is a great method for people with thin dry lips.
(You can also use a toothbrush.)

Your lips can get addicted to carmex and lip balms and may be extra dry when you don't use them. Try vaseline.

If your lips are feeling really dry, open up a Vitamin E capsule and put that on your lips--total moisture.
Burt's Bees is pretty much bomb at softening lips while making them smell good :] check them out, they're for sure at CVS and they used to be at Bath and Body works www.burtsbees.com
Carmex can be addicting for your lips like soemone else said plus it smells reallly bad and burns your lips because it's a medicated formula for cold sores.

Keep doing what you are doing. Soft lips are a part of healthy skin too!
If you discontinue use of lip balm products, your lips will be cracked, dry and uncomfortable.
make it a part of your daily beauty regimen....

I acually use burts bees wax lip balm, and that works really good, but if you want soft lips fast use the Neosporin lip treatment stuff. and don't use carmex because it acually attracts sunlight and which can burn you lips.

Yes, anything that keeps them moist is going to make them softer.
