You will probably need more that just the air bags. There is an ignitor module under the drivers side bag that will need to be replaced, (sometimes called a clock spring) and usually the control module and/or sensors will need to be replaced. To make matters worse, some late model cars will need the seat belts replaced as well because some of them have a one time use locking mechanism.

For a dealer or bodyshop to repair the air bag system, you are probably looking at $2000.00 or more.

As for used bags, it generally isn't recommended. They probably came out of a wrecked car & may or may not work when you need them.
If your budget can only afford used air bags, insist on seeing the car they come out of. If it is hit in the front or the interior is open to the weather, keep looking. (don't buy used control modules, ignitors or sensors. They aren't that expensive new.)
Get ones the same color as your interior, and never paint or dye air bag cover material to match your interior.

Always handle airbags with extreme care. They contain explosives & some cars have dual stage bags that still may have one more charge left in them. An air bag deploying close to one's head can be fatal.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to get used (not deployed) airbags from a junkyard, or on Ebay. In some states it is not legal to sell or install used airbags!

To buy new replacements, from a dealer is going to be an expensive proposition. You may need to replace the entire dash assembly.

i have installed airbags but never on a mustang, i have been told by a friend that has that you will need to change the dash pad to replace the passengers side airbag. on most newer cars there is an airbag module that sometimes has to be changed too. for a salvage price on airbags in your area try: www.car-part.com
for a bargain set they are usually cheaper on ebay.

Buy your air bags from Ford... I would not trust anything else & I don't think you can buy them anywhere else... also it is EXPENSIVE like $700 for driver and $1100 for passenger... Plus your fender damage... I think it is time to file an insurance claim.
