NO NO NO. NOT IN THE BOTTLE.

He can choke.

However, make sure he's getting 32 ounces of formula a day. If not, he's underfed.

If he is getting that amount, then try a little cereal in a BOWL with a SPOON before bed. NEVER in the bottle!!!

NEVER NEVER NEVER put any type of cereal/baby food in a bottle. This can cause many problems like choking, obesity, allegies, etc. It may have worked for someone elses baby but you don't want your kid to be the one with the problems!!!! Formula or breastmilk is all a baby needs until 6 months old. Your baby should be taking about 25 to 35 oz/day and it could be every 2 to 4 hours that the baby may want to eat. Babies have the internal regulation to know when they are hungry and stop when they are full. You should only feed rice cereal from the spoon and this should be no earlier than 4 months, but more like 6 months. The baby can't have the thrusting tonuge action that pushes the food out and needs to be able to sit up to eat.

All your child needs at 2 months is formula or breastmilk. Starting solids too early can lead to allergies, diabetes, obesity, etc. etc. He is too young for cereal and cereal should also never be put into a bottle except on doctor's orders for a baby with reflux. When you DO start cereals, DO NOT start with oatmeal but instead with rice as it's less allergenic.

That they will sleep better is an old wives tale. *IF* it does seem to make him sleep better...here's why. His poor little immature digestive system is having to work overtime to digest a food he isn't ready for. It can cause them to pretty much "shut down" everything else and sleep in order to attempt to digest the cereal. The cereal will do nothing for him nutritionally since he can't digest it properly at such a young age. Might as well put sawdust in the bottle for all the good it will do him.

99% of all of your doctors will tell you know not until 6 months and then one at a time. My son however left the hospital at three days old downing an 8 ounce bottle and every three hours he was hungry again. Yes he weighed almost 13 pounds at birtrh. I went to the pediatrician when he was two weeks old and told him we couldn't ever get him full and he told me that there were times when the rules had to be broken and if a child was always hungry with no medical issues involved that they needed more than formula. I went to Wal-Mart and bought one of the infant feeders and startde giving him rice cereral three times a day. Always start with rice as the others can cause more stomach upset and are harder to digest. It worked like a charm he was full and wasn't waking everythree hours for a bottle. He is now an active 7 year old who was not harmwed in anyway and he is still a big eater and can eat more than me and his sisters combined but he is happy healthy and at 7 is 5 foot tall and weighs 70 pounds so it doesn't make them fat. some kids just have a higher metabolism.

At two months old my son was eating 6oz. of formula every 4-5 hours. The dr. told me it was time to start Rice Cereal. She told me to mix breast milk or formula (what ever you are using now) with a couple of teaspoons of rice cereal so that it was like a thin cream of wheat. And to feed him on a spoon. I have to admit that I have mixed it into his bottle a couple of times and he gets sick more that way. At first it's hard on a spoon because they have to get used to it, but after a while it's very easy. Oatmeal is not suposed to be given to a baby that young. Try some rice cereal on a spoon and see how much it changes your day. The dr. also told me that at two months old they no longer require to eat in the middle of the night. If the baby wakes up to give him/her a pacifire and turn on his mobile. You will start to get more sleep, just watch. Good Luck!!! Feel free to e-mail if you have any more questions

Doctors and books will tell you no, but my mom and mom-in-law who raised 8 children total, told me yes. So I tried it, and at 8 wks she was sleeping through the night. Make sure it is rice cereal, not oatmel, and only use a little at a time. You may have to cut the nipple a little to get it to come out. Just moniter closely and be sure he does not have an allergy to the cereal. As he starts sleeping better, you can eventually stop putting it in his bottle. At around 4-6 months he'll be trying cereal from a bowl.

heavens no! a baby that young should be eating every 2 hours. if they are still hungry make the formula a little thicker by adding 1 1/2 scoops for 2 ounces of water. instead of one. at 2 months they are unable to digest real food like cereal. you have to wait at least until they are 4 months old or able to sit more or less on their own. then when you do feed them cereal feed them with a spoon.

my daycare put cereal in my middle sons bottle and it took almost a year to get him to eat with a spoon. my oldest and youngest never had food stuck in a bottle and never had a problem.

What did his pediatrician say? Mine told me (and I've read a lot) that I should wait until six months to give him solids to avoid the possibility of food allergies and obesity later in life. Studies have show that giving a baby cereal in his bottle does not make him or her sleep better or longer at night. Typically, a baby is not able to sleep through the night without at least one feeding before four months. Putting solids in the bottle to help a baby sleep through the night is an old wives' tale that many still believe today.

I started giving my son a spoonful of rice cereal in his bottle when he was 2 months old and I had no problem with it. He slept through the night and he took 7 to 8 ounces at at serving and it was about 5 to 6 hours before he would be hungry again. He's now 3 and he's perfect, no signs of obesity nor is he too skinny.

Withh all three of my kids, I started with a teaspoon of rice cereal (not as heavy as oatmeal) in a 4 ounce bottle of formula. My kids were 4 to 6 weeks when I started with each of them. I fed it to them for breakfast so that it was during the day and I could watch to make sure they didn't choke. At night, sometimes we mommies are so tired it is hard to pay close attention.

Yes, my children slept better- once I saw they were able to handle it and were not allergic to the rice, I began to give it to them before bedtime.
