First I congrulate you for a successfull exit.
Because, just think, if the same incident is repeated
and the private guards demand some other consideration for settlement, what would happen ?
If this happend at some other unofficial place, the
cost might have been very different. Many a times,
bad guys who are even HIV patients may blackmail
you and your so called friend. It is also possible
that she might have already settled the matter by
such considerations.
Secondly, get rid of her permanently. Whenever
asked by people, tell them the truth. And henceforth
be ware in friendships. Try to get maximum information about your friends before you treat them
as closed friends. Whenever you see any wrong sign
just keep distance. Best of luck!

This is very sad, but as it turns out - this person is not "best friend" material. Let her go - find a new "best friend." I mean okay - my best friend and I go back like almost 30 years now and we have done some mean things to each other just stupid things - like once I was all excited and I threw a tennis ball can in the air and it hit her on the head right in front of her mother when we were in Jr. High - ooops. And there was the time I went in the military and gave her my debit card telling her to take a little bit of $ to help her out of a jam and she took 3x what I offered. Of course, we would irritate each other at times and make mistakes. But, okay - there's a difference between doing something stupid and then saying your sorry and this. She needs to come clean and take responsibility for her actions or she's no friend at all. With friends like that - who needs enemies?

I wonder to if you had a friend like that is someone that shouldnt be your friend but being a shoplifter is something you dont want to do if you have a friend i bet they didnt want to be in trouble she hesitated she thought if she told the police you did it, she will have to bare the torture of lying it really does get to you, she will have to spill the beans no matter the cost even her life will be at stake but did you ask your mother you didnt
I wonder what shop did you go to?
Ask the police to look over the video cam that way you can find the evidence and be free but if you do your friend will hate you forever sorry about the forever part

Because she is a thief AND a liar. I'd get her off your Christmas list now and not associate with her anymore. Circumstances provide vignettes of a persons character. Such a person is harmful to all of those closest to them, as they have, and do often take for granted the value of their relationships, and feelings, well-being of other people in favor of their own. I am sorry you had this unfortunate experience, but hope you will see it as a good thing you were able to witness this character flaw now and hopefully adjust accordingly.

Its time for you to redefine what a best friend is-this chick sounds more like a worse enemy. There is no way you could have been "close" to her if she would do a thing like that to you.Drop the loser now and try to find some decent people that really deserve your friendship.

If she had a record for this it was probably to stay out of jail. Now I do not think she was right in doing this. You need to forgive her, and just do not go with her to stores. It will be hard to gain your trust again. Probably you will be long distance friends.

She cared more about herself...I'm sure she wouldn't have done that if she wasn't on the line. She didn't want to get caught, so she blamed it on you.
If it helps, try thinking about putting yourself in her shoes. I know this may seem like making an excuse for her, but it may help you understand why she did it more...

She did it to get her self out of trouble. She is not your best friend cause a true best friend wouldn't hurt you or lie on you to protect their selves. They wouldn't put you in a situation like that or would at least let you know what she was about to do.

Apparently, you have been very good friends with a dishonest person.
So, live and learn. Go find another friend. Clearly this one doesn't deserve
the time of day.
Why would you want to be friends with a shoplifter and a liar?
